The unspoken dread (Wed post #2)

As we get ready for Canada vs. Russia, consider this bit of bad karma sent to my by an American protagonist.

In the history of the Winter Olympics, whenever the games are held in a year ending in zero (1960, 1980)... the United States has won the hockey gold medal (there were no Olympic Games held in 1940 because of World War II).

Bad Omen?

We will put that thought out of our heads and spin it another way.

Whenever the Winter Olympics are held in a year ending in a zero, the host nation has won the hockey gold medal.

Our chance to prove this take on history goes tomorrow night with the Women's gold medal game.

Go Canada Go!
